How to use Calcutipr.

I’ve designed Calcutipr to be as easy to use as I could think to make it. I have also tried my best to make Calcutipr fast for users in a hurry.

Entering a dollar amount. – Tapping on any cell will bring up a keypad for quick number entry. Calcutipr will automatically add a decimal to the number you enter, just type the amounts without the decimal point. An example of this is: type in 3986 and Calcutipr will see this as $ 39.86, which is what all calculations will be based on.

Entering the Tip Percentage. – The Tip Percentage is the only text entry that differs, Calcutipr will not allow you to enter decimals, however, it will show decimals when the Tip Amount or bill Totals are changed to reflect a non-whole number tip percentage. An example of this would be: enter 18 for 18.00% tip.

Number Deletion. – The back or delete key in the lower right of the keypad will remove the number at the end of the amount. An example would be, the set amount is $ 123.45, tapping the delete key once would remove the 5 at the end and make the amount $ 12.34, etc.

Clearing the Tip. – Reset or clear any amount by tapping the X to the right of the number, this will set the amount equal to zero. $ 34.56 would become $ 00.00.

Modifying the Tip. – Whenever you are editing a value (when the keypad is visible) the top bar will change from the Calcutipr logo to several controls, - 1.00, Round, + 1.00 and done. Taping done will dismiss the keypad the same way tapping the cell again would. Tapping the - 1.00 button will reduce the current field by $1 or by 1%, depending on the type of amount being edited, + 1.00 works the same way, except it adds $1 or 1%. The Round button will round the amount to the nearest whole value, either a percentage to the nearest percent, or a dollar to the nearest dollar amount. An example of the Round function: $ 4.67 would become $ 5.00. An example of the + 1.00 would be 15% would become 16% or $ 4.67 would become $ 5.67.

Splitting the Tip. – When there’s more than one person paying for a meal you may wish to split the bill Total or Tip Amount between multiple parties. To split the bill Total and Tip Amount, use the Splits section to set the number of splits via the slider. The numbers above the slider correspond to the number of splits you wish to make. All values can be adjusted live while using a split. A split value of 2 would divide both the Tip Amount dollar figure and the Total dollar figure by two.

Tax Subtraction. – Calcutipr now gives you the option to calculate the Tip based on the pre-tax amount. Tap the Subtract Tax cell in Calcutipr to toggle on/off this feature. To set this feature visit the Settings app on your home screen. The Tax Amount can be set between 2% and 15% in increments of 0.5%. This feature acts like this: say you enter a $100 Amount and have the Tax Percent set to 7%, Calcutipr will subtract 7% from $100 ($93 pre-tax), from this pre-tax Amount Calcutipr will then calculate the Tip Percentage and Tip Amount ($13.95 tip) then add these onto the original ($100) Amount to give you a Total of $113.95 (if you choose to not tip on tax). Only when On is displayed does Calcutipr produce a Total and Tip Amount that does not tip on tax.
